MESOPOTAMIAN (BABYLONIAN) CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION
The Mesopotamian (Babylonian) culture and civilization is the evolution of Human Mesopotamians(Babylonians) on the holy land of the continent of Mesopotamia. The holy land of the continent of Mesopotamia is shown in the above map circumscribed by the red line. It houses the Mesopotamian countries of Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and Kurdistan, Syria, State of Mesopotamia and Chaldea. The holy land of the continent of Mesopotamia has remained separate and hence isolated from other continents almost its entire existence with relatively recently joined the continents of Asia and Africa. The Mesopotamian culture and civilization started nearly 50 million years ago. At that time the entire continent was covered by lush green forests. But the southern tip of the continent had the best sunshine and temperature for the Mesopotamian civilization to start. It is here that the Human Mesopotamians started their origins and settlement. But as the Mesopotamian continent started getting surrounded by the continents of Asia and Africa, it brought climate change with it. Consequent to this the desertification process started at the southern tip of the Mesopotamian continent. Desert is a hostile environment and not conducive to agriculture and forests, both of which are essential for providing food to a civilization. The Human Mesopotamians were forced to shift north. But the relentless march of the desert has now almost engulfed the entire continent of Mesopotamia. But it has taken nearly 40 million years for the desert to become its present domain. As the desert slowly progressed from the south to the north, the Human Mesopotamians and their civilization continuously shifted, remaining just north of the desert. Therefore what is popularly known as the Mesopotamian civilization in the west, between the rivers of Tigris and Euphrates, is only a 400,000 to 500,000 year civilization. The older forms of the Mesopotamian civilization are south, much south. This is the geological climatic and evolutionary reality and history of Mesopotamian culture and civilization.
